jealous, zealous
A jealous person feels resentment or suspicion because of rivalry or competition of some sort: "Sue was jealous of her beautiful sister." A zealous person is active, diligent, devoted: "He was the most admired, zealous worker in the plant." Jealous is pronounced "JEL-uhs"; zealous is sounded as "ZEL-uhs."
